Grwyne Fawr at Sunrise
One of the UKs smallest mountain bothies located in the Black Mountains, Brecon Beacons and what a beautiful place it is. I’ve been wanting to capture this composition since the Summer and now I can finally say that I have. The key to this image was fresh snow and a clear sunrise, two elements that the weather can find hard to combine but after seeing the forecast for last weekend, I could see there was an opportunity. On Saturday I started at Llanthony to ascend the 6-mile hike and after getting battered by 50mph gusts with hail-like snow and wild camping near the bothy in freezing temperatures, made waking up to this a real treat and a relief to know that I’ve finally captured the moment I’ve envisaged for so long!
